Michael J. Humpal, DC graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2017 with Summa Cum Laude honors and academic excellence. He grew up in Northeast Iowa, and opened his practice in North Liberty, Iowa where Mike, his wife, Lindsey, and son, Parker reside. Mike attended the University of Iowa from 2003-2007 where he earned his Health and Sports Studies degree, and was a student athlete for the Iowa Hawkeye football team. In 2008 he was drafted to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Throughout his college and professional football career as a linebacker, he suffered from neck injuries. Having experienced this first hand, and eventually being the result of a career change, Mike was interested in finding ways to help prevent and treat spinal and extremity injuries for others. Dr. Humpal received certification in Active Release Techniques of the Spine in 2016, Flexion-Distraction Technique in 2017, and utilizes trigger point therapy when needed. He is extensively trained in manual adjusting techniques, which include Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, Motion Palpation and extremity manipulation. Dr. Humpal also provides neuromuscular electrical stimulation, Interferential stimulation, Russian stimulation, cryotherapy, thermotherapy and manual traction, as well as postural and therapeutic exercises, and passive and active stretches.
